K-Beauty is a well-known phenomenon not only in Korea, but also around the globe. Korean beauty products are famous for their high-quality, various kinds and suitable for each skin type. A lot of foreigners living in Korea have the oppotrunity to get these products absolutely for free. This is because these beauty brands offer collaborations to these people - creating a review content about a particular brand in exchange fot their products.
There are two ways a foreigner can get free products in an exchange for a review: influencers and non-influencers. Let’s discuss each of them.
Influencers. You can be considered as an influencer in Korea if you have more than 1,000 followers on Instagram and actively post there. Influencers can easily make brand deals. There are two ways, how they can connect with beauty brands. However, keep in mind that, if your content is not solely K-beauty related, you should post not only product reviews, but your normal content as well in order not to lose your authenticity in the eyes of your followers. Second way of getting collaborations with Korean brands is downloading the app called Nurilounge. Nurilounge is a community for foreign beauty creators in Korea. It’s a platform for both brands and influencers. Brands that need influencers for reviewing their product, post deals with all the necessary information such as how many and what kind of influencers they need, what product they are planning to promote, what are the requirements, what are the benefits, what are the deadlines, if it is a paid or non-paid deal. to name but a few. Influencers, who want to collaborate with those brands apply for the collaboration providing all the needed information. Further, brands review Instagram accounts of influencers who applied for their campaign and choose among them.
Non-influencers. Or, we can call them UGC creators. UGC is user generated content. UGC creators do not necessarily need to have a famous Instagram or many followers. This is because, unlike influencers, UGC creators do not need to upload the review content on their SNS channel. To be a UGC creator, it is better to have good filming and editing skills. Just like influencers, one way of getting brand deals, is uploading your UGC product reviews on your SNS channels with appropriate hashtags, so that brands can notice you and buy your review for their products. Second, more easy option is, again, Nurilounge. Brands on Nurilounge platform, along with influencers, work with UGC creators as well. UGC creators are required to only create a product review video without posting it on social media, and they are paid for every review.
