Cheap and Free Travel Communities in South Korea: Explore New Opportunities

South Korea is saturated with numerous travel destinations, unique and interesting places to visit and enjoy, extraordinary experiences to try, to name but a few. When people travel to Korea, they usually do a research of places to visit beforehand. But just searching online will not show you all opportunities you can explore in South Korea. Fortunately, South Korea is full of online travel companies that offer foreigners a wide range of interesting experiences. Today, we will discuss these companies.

To begin with, I would like to highlight the reasons why you should absolutely check out these companies, where there are a lot more advantages than if you would try to find a place by yourself. The benefits are:

1) Easy To Reach. All you have to do is go to their Instagram page and see all the travel/activity/experience opportunities they offer. These posts include all details about the event such as destination, date, time, number of participants, activity fee (if there is), event-specific benefits (sometimes they provide small gifts/food/cover some expenses).

2) Cheap Price / No Fee. Fortunately, there are a plethora of events/trips/activities in Korea for free. Yes, you do not have to pay any penny. Sometimes, free trips will ask you to post pictures from the trip on your social media page, sometimes you do not need to do this.

There are paid opportunities as well, but the majority is super cheap and much cheaper than if you would travel alone.

3) You are totally guided. If you apply for these activities, they take care of everything starting from transport and ending with total explanation of everything. Despite this, you do not need to be in groups all the time as they offer you freedom to do what you want and walk where you want while travelling.

4) They know better. Obviously, travel companies in Korea know much more about Korea than foreigners. They know which places are best to visit and when is the best time. Moreover, they cooperate with different companies and organizations for offering joint activities. For instance, once I applied for a Pyeongchang trip with a travel company, and they offered us "Winter Strawberry Collecting" activity cooperating with a company that saws and grows strawberries in greenhouses. We were also provided with 1 hour of extraordinary yoga and meditation experience with a professional instructor at Wellness Organization. All of this was absolutely free of charge!

5) You can make new culturally diverse friends. I believe it is one of the hugest benefits of choosing this way of travelling because it is much more fun as you travel with several people together who come from different countries. It is much more enjoyable to travel in large groups of culturally different people rather than alone or with 1-2 friends. I personally made many new friends from such trips and activities, and we still keep in touch.

Now that we discussed main pros of choosing travel companies, I would like to share with you the names of those that I personally engaged with.

Let's start:

1. Funday Korea Networks. (Instagram - funday.korea.networks)

Funday Korea Networks is a K-culture platform introducing Korea to the world. I personally think that it is one of the most active platforms as they offer new experiences quite frequently. If you apply your email, you will get notifications about all new events so that you do not miss any. Funday Korea Networks also provides challenges and competitions (such as creating a reel) with lots of monetary prizes as well as expensive gifts. They offer historical adventures, UNESCO heritage tours various festivals and even sea trips.

2. Visit Seoul. (Instagram - visitseoul_official)

Visit Seoul is a Seoul Tourism Organization (public & government service). It does not offer trips often, but it usually offers interesting activities such as making Korean liquor, decorating vases, to name but a few. What's more, you can learn about all upcoming events, festivals in Seoul keeping an eye on their posts and stories. They also show you great places in Seoul that you can visit by yourself.

3. Plus Planner. (Instagram - plus_planner)

Plus Planner is a tour agency in South Korea. This agency is full of interesting tours and activities totally free of charge. They offer many specific activities such as vegan tours, wellness supporters, glamping supporters, art tours and the list goes on. You can travel to other towns and cities of Korea such as Pyeongchang, Jeongseon, Sokcho, Yangyang, Gangneung ant etc. with this agency.

4. Sports In Korea. (Instagram - sports_in_korea)

If you want to try ski resort experience check out  the KTO "Sports In Korea" community. This community offers mainly winter activities - a variety of ski resort experiences in different parts of South Korea.

5. Hello World Korea. (Instagram - helloworldkorea)

Hello World Korea is a nonprofit organization that builds the global citizen community in Korea through educational, cultural, and social projects. This community provides a great variety of events, tours, campfests, courses and what not! Just visit their Instagram and you will find a plenty of appealing offers. You can not only have fun, but also learn new things during the workshops and events.

Undoubtedly, there are many more similar companies, agencies, communities where you can explore dozens of entertaining tours, events, activities and experiences, which you can find on Instagram, and the more you explore them, the more new platforms will appear on your feed (nowadays, algorithms are powerful). In this article, I just shared with you the ones I personally tried and was satisfied. Korea is mind-blowing, saturated with exciting activities. Therefore, let's not miss our chances of being in South Korea and enjoy it completely!
